On Thursday 24th September The Panel hosted an event in Café en Seine in Dublin city specifically for Newly Qualified Accountants who are exploring their options out of practice.
Featuring three prominent industry speakers the event was well attended by finance professionals thinking about their career prospects after qualifying.
Our first speaker was Majella Mungovan, Finance Director at Facebook (Ireland). She spoke of her transition from newly qualified to working in various senior roles, largely with Microsoft, before joining Facebook in her current position.
The second speaker was Ursula Beecher, Finance Business Partner at LEO Pharma Ireland. She spoke about her background and her extensive experience in commercial finance roles both within financial services and industry.
Finally, our third speaker Edel Brennan, Financial Controller at Intrepid Aviation Ireland spoke about the aircraft leasing sector and how the sector has changed and evolved since she joined her current employer. She spoke about her own personal experience in transitioning from practice at manager level to the aircraft leasing sector.
All speakers are very accomplished but have different backgrounds so it was interesting to hear their respective career paths. They all gave valuable tips and advice to those pursuing a career in industry or financial services.
The night was finished off with an interactive Q&A session with plenty of questions for all of the speakers and giving the audience the opportunity to find out more about the areas of most relevance to them.
The Panel held a prize draw during the event and the winner was Emer Gavin who received a €200 One4All voucher from our ACA Recruitment Manager Louise O’Leary. Congratulations Emer and many thanks to all who attended the event and to our speakers for some great insights into the current market.
